Victor Boniface Involved in Car Accident After Match
According to multiple sources, Victor Boniface, the star striker for Bayer Leverkusen, was involved in a car accident after his team defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1. Boniface, who scored Leverkusen’s match-winning goal on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt, was doing well following the mishap.
Leverkusen has not yet made a public statement regarding the matter as no social media announcement or posts have been uploaded yet. The 23-year-old striker made his debut for Nigeria last season after joining Leverkusen and was instrumental in the team’s historic league and cup double, which was their first-ever Bundesliga victory. He has scored seven goals in ten games in all competitions this season.
Although it could have been a big loss for Xabi Alonso’s side if it were to be a serious injury, luckily for the team and Boniface, no major damages occurred. On Sunday, Victor Boniface posted images and a video of a wrecked car on Instagram, but those posts have since been removed. Additionally, he uploaded what looked to be a photo of his blood-stained hand. On Sunday morning, the Nigerian forward was traveling with his Mercedes to Frankfurt airport.
He sustained minor injuries to his hand after the car collided with a truck. According to police sources cited in the story, the driver lost control of the vehicle because of exhaustion and swerved from the middle lane to the right, colliding with the truck. The Mercedes overturned as a result of the collision, which suggested that it might have caused a few major injuries to the Nigerian star.
After receiving medical attention and examination in the hospital, the driver and Boniface have safely returned to Koln. The truck’s driver was unharmed. The projected total damage is slightly less than €200,000.
