Robert Lewandowski Becomes Third All-Time Highest Scorer in Europe's Top Leagues

Robert Lewandowski Joins Elite Club as Third All-Time Highest Scorer in Europe's Top Five Leagues

Barcelona star striker Robert Lewandowski has joined an elite club as he became the third all-time highest scorer in Europe’s top five leagues. The Polish star achieved this feat by scoring a brace in Barcelona’s 5-1 win over Sevilla, continuing their strong form. Lewandowski now trails only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the all-time scoring charts.

Lewandowski began his professional career in Poland before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2010, where he spent four years. In 2014, he joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer, enjoying immense success. The 36-year-old signed for Barcelona in 2022 and has continued to impress with his performances at the Camp Nou. Robert Lewandowski opened the scoreline for Barcelona by converting a penalty in the 24th minute and added his second in the 39th minute. Pedri found the net in the 28th minute while Pablo Torre completed the scoring with goals in the 82nd and 88th minutes.

The number 9 now boasts a remarkable 366 league goals, placing him third in the all-time list of Europe’s top-five league scorers. His impressive tally has come in just 436 league appearances, with 312 goals scored in 384 matches during his time in Germany and 54 goals in 76 matches since moving to Spain. The former Barcelona striker Lionel Messi leads the list with 496 goals, just one more than his rival Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi scored 474 goals in 520 La Liga appearances for Barca before netting 22 in 58 Ligue 1 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo played in three of the big leagues and scored 311 goals in 292 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid and 81 times in 98 Serie A games for Juventus. The Portuguese star also scored 103 goals in 236 appearances in the Premier League with Manchester United.

Lewandowski Equals Messi’s La Liga Record in Barcelona’s Triumph Over Sevilla

Robert Lewandowski emulated Lionel Messi in his side's 5-1 thrashing of Sevilla. The 36-year-old netted a double brace for La Blaugrana as they remained at the top of the LaLiga standings with 29 points in 10 games.

Lewandowski took his league tally to 12 goals in 10 games and became the second player after Messi to do so. The former Barca striker scored the 12 goals in the opening 10 matches back in the 2019-20 season, which is marked as his penultimate season in Spain. Barcelona will next face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday and are three points clear of their arch rivals Real Madrid in La Liga.
